When talking about the 1984 "rockumentary" This is Spinal Tap, there are two camps of people: the ones who get it and ones who think it is some ridiculous ****. I happen to be of the former group. God bless Rob Reiner, Michael McKean, Chistopher Guest and Co. for so deftly channeling the very worst tropes and pretentions of rock 'n' roll into an air-tight satire about a band on the downswing. In that spirit, check out the latest piece I wrote for Consequence of Sound in honor of this June's reissue of the This Is Spinal Tap soundtrack on vinyl, encased in soulless black packaging.

Cat Meets Turntable
I'm cashing in my one-time-only voucher for posting a cat video. Trust me, it's worth it. In the above video, watch a sweet little fur ball try and solve the mystery of "the turntable." Even better is that the record spinning is Bob Marley, and the cat has no idea he's remixing a legend. Sit on that, Jack White.

If You Have Free Time and Some Spare Silicone
If I had the time, energy, supplies, or guts to pour some sort of warm mystery mixture over my precious records, this would be an interesting experiment.Gizmodo posted about how to pirate record-- not the easiest process in the world, and I'm sure the sound quality takes a hit, but it's kinda cool anyway. Will say this though, I bet it gets all those pesky dust particles out of the grooves. Check it out.
