Dawes Tweets 'New Record is Done'

Occasionally Twitter bears some pretty sweet fruits. Today, if you were paying attention, you might have caught Dawes sending out a tweet that said they've finished their new record. No more details beyond that, but in a steady stream of food-related Instagrams and political douchebag-ery, this is definitely news worth tweeting about.

Avett Brothers Talk New Album

May all siblings get along this well.
File this one under "Are we there yet?" The Avett Brothers told Rolling Stone that they're nearly finished with their new album. There's not tons of concrete info, but Rick Rubin returned as producer, and the Avetts did divulge a few details about several tracks. Of course, we can expect typical Avett Brothers fair (The Once and Future Carpenter, Down with the Shine), but apparently there's a "grunge"-type tune called "Paul Newman Versus the Demons."

Sounds promising.

Anyhoodle, stay tuned for a release date. Hopefully it's not too far off.

Coldplay: Every Lyric is a Teardrop

Looks like after three years, the Coldplay machine has got its wheels turning again. Today, the band posted a video on their website featuring a few lyrics from their upcoming single "Every Tear Drop is a Waterfall," out June 3.

The fulls lyrics to the song can be found on their site, and yes, the song does contain the lines "As we soar walls, every siren is a symphony and every tear's a waterfall / is a waterfall / oh is a waterfall / oh oh oh is a waterfall / every tear is a waterfall / oh oh oh."

They sure do make it hard to defend them sometimes.

Also, colorful, non-threatening graffiti seems to be the theme this time around. No word on a release date or title for the album.

Damn hoodlums.

Radiohead is Toying with Our Emotions

Good grief, we haven't had this sort of emotion turmoil and ambiguity since high school. Paste posted this article today, saying that Radiohead might not be ready-- oh, what were Ed O'Brien's exact words, "in a matter of weeks." Oops.

The band is stepping out of the studio until late summer-ish (they say that now), so expect... an album... maybe... at some point... in the future.

Radiohead Starts Recording New Album

The BBC reported this morning that Radiohead is back in the studio. That's pretty much the extent of the details, but those few words happen to be quite hefty on their own, fortunately. The big question that everyone is raising at the moment, is whether the band will put out the new album in a similar way to the In Rainbows release. That probably depends on what the true motivation was behind the original idea, regardless of what they said. If it was a matter of audience control, being avant guard and adapting to the reality of the music industry, then the obvious route would be to allow fans to pay what they want yet again.

But, if it was more a marketing/publishing stunt, then it's time to move on and try something fresh. I don't really care. I'll buy either way. It's Radiohead. C'mon.
